Saz's at Indian Summer

Each year, we celebrate traditional and contemporary Native American culture for Indian Summer at Henry Maier Festival Park! This year’s event, happening September 7-9, 2018, brings even more fun and excitement with loads of entertainment for the whole family!

At Indian Summer, you’ll discover everything from a powwow contest and performances from traditional Native American dancers to canoe rides, a drum jam and the Indian Summer Boxing National Tournament!

Like with all the big Milwaukee summer festivals, Saz’s will be at Indian Summer all weekend long serving up plenty of festival faves, with braised pulled pork sandwiches and the famous sampler combo platter, loaded with mozzarella marinara, sour cream & chive fries and Leinenkugel’s beer-battered cheese curds.

You’ll also discover traditional food favorites like frybread, Indian tacos, bison burgers and wild rice, found at stands across the park. Festivalgoers will also be treated to cooking demonstrations and demos throughout the weekend.

Live music and entertainment all weekend long!

Live music from contemporary Native American artists takes center stage with scheduled performances all weekend long! A yearly crowd favorite, Brule returns Miller Oasis main stage, bringing their infectious style of cultural-inspired rock, theatrical instrumentation and traditional dancers in full regalia.

There’re plenty of new additions to this year’s celebration including aerial dance performances from Anna Belle Aerial and live comedy from Scott Ward, with his positive high-energy comedy hypnosis shows!

Sign up for a cultural workshop!

Plenty of insightful cultural workshops are scheduled throughout the weekend and include an Iroquois Raised Beading Workshop with Jim Kelly and a Flute Workshop with Tommy Lee. You’ll get plenty of hands-on instruction at each workshop, making a stop to attend worthwhile for all who take part.

We did mention a whole lot is happening this year, didn’t we? You can find a complete schedule of events and happenings at the Indian Summer entertainment page!
