Every “Chefs on Second” event is designed for collaboration, creativity, and incredible food. Pick the experience that best fits your group’s style:

Option A: The Team Competition Dinner

Best for groups of 30 to 60 guests High-energy, fast-paced, and wildly fun. Your group splits into teams of 6 to 8 to tackle a 30-minute mystery pantry appetizer challenge, followed by a relaxed, premium dinner served by our team.

Option B: The Guided Cooking Class

Best for groups of 25 to 30 guests A relaxed, educational, and immersive evening. Teams of 5 to 6 gather around private cooking stations to craft a stunning, seasonal entrée from scratch under the direct guidance of Chef Dustin.

Hour 1: The Arrival & Welcome

The doors open at South Second, and the energetic atmosphere immediately sets the stage for the night ahead.
  • The Bar Opens: Your 4-hour premium open bar officially begins. Guests can grab a signature cocktail, a local craft beer, or a glass of wine.
  • First Bites: As everyone settles in and mingles, the Saz’s hospitality team circulates with two chef-selected passed appetizers to kick off the evening’s culinary journey.

Hour 2: Sizing Up the Kitchen & The Main Event

The energy shifts to the open-concept kitchen space. Custom cooking stations are set, fresh ingredients are laid out, and the aprons go on. Executive Chef Dustin Howard takes the stage to lay down the ground rules and demonstrate essential kitchen fundamentals.
  • If You’re Competing: The clock starts! Teams have exactly 30 minutes to conceptualize, cook, and plate a mouthwatering appetizer using a basket of mystery ingredients.
  • If You’re Learning: Teams gather at their stations for a step-by-step masterclass, learning professional techniques as they prep and cook a seasonal masterpiece from scratch.

Hour 3: The Feast (Sit Back & Savor)

The hard work is done, and the aprons come off. The room naturally becomes a relaxed, private dining atmosphere where you can finally enjoy your creation.
  • The Competition Feast: While our culinary team tallies up the scores, your group sits down to a premium, chef-prepared meal with your choice of a customized buffet or an elegant family-style dinner service.
  • The Class Feast: Sit back, relax, and savor your creation. Guests enjoy the exact seasonal entrée they just prepared, perfectly plated and served in a beautiful dining setting.

Hour 4: The Final Toast & Accolades

This is where the memories are solidified. For competitions, Chef Dustin takes the microphone to announce the winning team, handing out ultimate office bragging rights and prizes. The open bar enters its final hour. Guests enjoy a decadent dessert, socialize, snap group photos, and toast to an unforgettable, collaborative night.
