In 2017, Saz himself donned the pink ‘do as part of the Susan G. Komen Foundation‘s BigWig campaign. For the 2019 campaign to raise money for essential breast health screenings and support services, Susan G. Komen Foundation again reached out to Saz’s for support. Curt Kluth, Saz’s Hospitality Group’s CFO, enthusiastically accepted the challenge, noting that, like so many others, he too has been affected by breast cancer with friends and family members who have fought the disease. To Curt, participating in the fun banter and the month-long competition is a small way to say “thank you” to such an influential organization that has provided, and continues to provide, such valuable support and services to those battling this disease.

The BigWigs campaign initiated in 2014 as a means to gather corporate and community leaders together to raise awareness and funds to positively impact those directly affected by breast cancer. In fact, 75 percent of funds contributed to the campaign benefit local women and men by providing financial assistance for breast screenings, diagnostic tests, and treatments; with the remaining funds allocated to cutting-edge research in pursuit of finding a cure.

From late February until mid-March, Milwaukee BigWigs will sport hot pink ‘dos all over town to raise funds – and awareness. The contest will culminate with the masquerade-themed More Than Pink Gala on March 20, 2019 at the Marcus Performing Arts Center, where the Biggest Wig, that is, the biggest fundraiser, will be named in an evening of further fundraising, auctions, and fun.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Donate directly to Curt’s BigWig page, where you can read about Curt’s strategy to be crowned the Biggest Wig (hint: it includes Saz’s festival-favorite mozzarella sticks). Every dollar counts, and no donation is too small!
– Purchase a BigWig Martini at Saz’s State House for $8, with proceeds directly benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foudation.
– Attend the More Than Pink Gala at the Marcus Performing Arts Center on March 20, 2019, where all the BigWigs and their supporters will gather together in celebration of the impact the campaign has on critical support for those affected. The evening will include silent and live auctions, raffles and other fundraising activities, and a delicious meal provided by our very own Sazama’s Fine Catering.
– Spread the word, socially. Whether or not you can donate, sharing the awareness of the campaign can make a difference. Tell friends and family, and strangers on the street! Share the event on social media, especially photos of Curt around town in his hot pink wig! Share this page as a link, or Curt’s BigWig page, or the Facebook event for the More Than Pink Gala! However you do it, share the news and do some good without spending a dime!
