Brian Taborski

Executive Chef, CEC, CCA, PCII

There are very few who really know what direction they’re headed at the age of 14, but for Brian Taborski, our Executive Chef, getting his first taste of the industry working at an Italian Restaurant was encouragement enough to pursue a career in the culinary world. Right out of high school, Brian enrolled in culinary school, completing his education at The Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago. From there, he was set on following through with those early aspirations, moving to Madison, Wisconsin, where at the age of 21 he earned his first Sous Chef position at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center.

After spending considerable time committed to mastering his craft, a call to relocate was answered when he accepted an offer to become Executive Chef at a 4-diamond restaurant in Independence, Missouri. Brian has also held dual roles as Executive Sous Chef at the University Club at the University of Missouri, as well as Chef de Cuisine for University Catering at MU. Roles of this caliber consist of responsibilities that demand the highest level of commitment, especially when given the task of preparing food for highly-esteemed guests. During this time, he cooked for many dignitaries from around the world, most notably President Barack Obama, Supreme Court Chief Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the King of Thailand, the President of South Korea, the Prime Minister of China, as well as many Senators and Representatives of the United States.

Since then, Brian has earned his Culinary Institute of America ProChef® Level II Certification in 2008, and the American Culinary Federation Executive Chef Certification in June of 2016. He is an award-winning chef with 10 medals to his name. Outside of the kitchen and away from Saz’s, Brian extends this level of dedication to raising an amazing family and mentoring community youth. Chef Brian is a proud father of two wonderful children and a Professional Mentor for High School ProStart Teams that gives students a head start in the culinary industry. Humbled by his accomplishments and his ability to inspire, we’re proud and grateful to have him on the Saz’s team!
