6 fryer chicken halves

Saz’s Original Barbecue or Sassy Sauce (original recipe plus jalapeno peppers)


  • Cook indirect
  • Arrange grill grates 25 inches above charcoal (keep the charcoal to the sides of the grill to prevent the chicken from cooking too quickly and becoming dry.)
  • Before placing on the grill prepare chicken with salt, pepper and vegetable oil. Place chicken on grill grates and baste with vegetable oil every 15 minutes. In the last 10 to 15 minutes, baste top of chicken with Saz’s Original barbecue or Sassy sauce.
  • Grill for approximately 50 minutes to one hour, or until thermometer in thickest part of thigh meat reads 165 degrees.
  • (The sugar in the barbecue sauce will caramelize. If done too early, or directly over the heat source, the sauce may burn.)
